About Dr. John Storment
When
you choose to have our tubal reversal procedure at Fertility & Women's Health Center of Louisiana you will be under
the care of a highly-trained and well-respected, board-certified
reproductive endocrinologist.
What is different about a a board-certified reproductive endocrinologist versus a gynecologic surgeon who offers only tubal reversal surgery? A reproductive endocrinologist has had three years of additional specialized training (in addition to the four years of general obstetrics/gynecology residency) to be able to offer both options for treatment: in vitro fertilization and microsurgical tubal reversal surgery. This is critical to determine the absolute best approach for each patient’s unique needs.
After graduating medical school from Louisiana State University, Dr. Storment completed a residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology from UT Health Science Center in Houston, TX, and a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington, VT.
Dr. Storment subsequently established his medical practice in Lafayette, LA, in 2002 after three years with Fertility Institute of New Orleans. He is affiliated with Women's & Children's Hospital where his Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) Center is currently located. The ART Center houses state-of-the-art medical equipment for the advanced infertility treatments of in vitro fertilization (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), blastocyst culture, assisted hatching and embryo cryopreservation. Dr. Storment is also affiliated with Lafayette Surgicare Surgical Center, located on the Women's & Children's Hospital campus, where he performs almost all his surgical procedures, including tubal repair.
Dr. Storment is a Clinical Associate Professor with Louisiana State University School of Medicine and has been on faculty since 1999. He has published numerous articles on infertility, ultrasonography, and the physiology of hormone replacement during menopause. His current research projects involves evaluation and treatment of endometriosis and infertility. Dr. Storment remains active in resident education in reproductive endocrinology and infertility and recently receiving “best teacher award” from the resident physicians. He volunteers at Lafayette Community Health Clinic each month providing gynecologic care for the “working uninsured”.
